A new planning application to transform Newtown Railway Station into a community workspace has been submitted.
The application, proposed by Ms Ezma Zhao, seeks approval for the "Internal reconfiguration and change of use from beauty salon to community workspace" at Newtown Railway Station located at Newtown SY16 1BP.

The application is part of the exciting new community workspace called 'Platform1' which is being established in the Railway Station.
It will feature a cafe, workshops, shed and museum space for Newtown.
Town councillors are scheduled to discuss the application at their meeting in February, setting the stage for further deliberation. However, the final decision rests with Powys County Council, which will either consider the proposal at their Planning Committee or delegate it to officers.
According to council procedures, the application is due to be decided on by March 13, 2025, allowing time for public input and consideration. Residents and stakeholders can access the details of the application online and provide their comments directly to the County Council.
