However, it was TNS who managed to break the deadlock in the 33rd minute, courtesy of an unfortunate own goal by Newtown's Kieran Mills-Evans. Despite their best efforts to equalise, Newtown found themselves trailing by a goal as the first half came to a close.

Yellow cards were brandished throughout the game, reflecting the intensity of the match. Newtown's George Hughes was cautioned just 5 minutes into the game, followed by Craig Harrison, the TNS First Team Manager, receiving a yellow card in the 20th minute.

The physicality of the game continued, with Callum Roberts, Ryan Sears, Callum McKenzie, Louis Robles, and Kieran Mills-Evans from Newtown also finding themselves in the referee's notebook at various points during the match.
