Kindness at Christmas 2024
This event starts at 14/12/2024 11:00am and is being held at Town Hall Grounds. Tickets free. Click here for more information.
The festivities will kick off with a unique twist as Santa Claus himself arrives between 10.30am and 11:00am, not in his traditional sleigh but in a rally car, set to delight attendees of all ages.
Organized by Cllr Joy Jones and a team from Powys County Council, the event from 11am to 2pm will feature various stalls with free toys, gifts, chocolates, and treats for all to enjoy.
Local organizations such as Powys Youth Services, the Integrated Family Centre, The Feathers Association, Ponthafren, and The Honeypot Charity will be hosting activities to engage the attendees.
To add to the festive spirit, a vibrant procession of racing cars and elves on bikes will parade through town, with some surprise guests expected to make appearances. Donkeys will also be present to delight visitors.
Cllr Jones expressed her gratitude for the community's support, noting:
"The Rapid Relief Team will ensure everyone is well-fed with food and drinks. The event is free, thanks to the incredible support from local businesses, housing associations, and generous community members."
"This event might have been my idea, but it’s truly the people of Newtown who make it happen. The generosity and spirit of our residents, businesses, and organizations are what bring this event to life. Let’s all come together and share some kindness this Christmas."
Residents are encouraged to spread the word and invite friends and family to partake in the festive activities. Supplies will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early is advised to ensure a memorable experience.
