Newtown Football Club made a surprising announcement today, revealing that they have officially parted ways with manager Chris Hughes by mutual consent.

Additionally, he oversaw Newtown's historic Europa League win over Valletta and guided the team through a tie against FC Copenhagen. Born in Prestatyn, Hughes has extensive experience in the Welsh football scene.

In an official statement, the board of directors at Newtown Association Football Club expressed their gratitude for Hughes' invaluable contributions.

They acknowledged the profound impact he had on the club during his successful decade-long tenure.

Under Hughes' guidance, Newtown AFC became a prominent team within the Cymru Premier league, consistently achieving strong performances, often finishing in the top six, and participating in European football on three occasions.

The statement concluded by wishing Hughes the utmost success in his future endeavors, acknowledging his legacy at Newtown AFC with great respect and appreciation.

The decision comes in the wake of the team's recent 4-0 defeat against Barry Town United, which has left the Powys club in fourth place in the JD Cymru Premier table.

The news of Hughes' departure marks the end of a significant era for Newtown Football Club, leaving fans and players curious about what lies ahead for the team.

The search for a new manager will undoubtedly be underway soon, as the club looks to build upon the solid foundation established by Hughes.
