The owners of a very popular takeaway in Newtown have announced they are retiring after 47 years.

Crescent Street Fish and Chip Shop will sadly close it's doors for the last time on the 10th August 2024 after 47 years of trading.

Owned by Gareth and Iona Muscroft, they thanked customers on social media for their loyal support over the long period, saying that the time had come to retire and "put their feet up".

The chip shop, which is a hit with the locals will be sorely missed.

The business was recently ranked by residents as one of the top 5 fish and chip shops in Powys according to the Powys County Times.
