Residents in Powys are giving a nod of approval to the housing services provided by Powys County Council, according to the latest satisfaction survey data.

Conducted independently by ARP Research in autumn 2023, the survey aimed to gauge tenant satisfaction with the services they receive. The results of the survey are in, and they paint a positive picture.

Overall satisfaction with the housing service has increased from 71% in 2021 to 75%.

    Key findings include:

    • 89% of tenants are satisfied with the safety and security of their homes
    • 84% believe their rent represents good value for money
    • 80% are satisfied with the last repair carried out in their homes
    • 82% find council staff to be friendly and approachable
    • 86% are satisfied with their neighborhood as a place to live

Compared to the 2021 survey, there have been improvements in various areas, such as satisfaction with the quality of homes, repairs and maintenance, engagement with tenant views, decision-making processes, management services, trust in the housing service, and dealing with anti-social behavior.

However, there has been a slight decrease in satisfaction with the value for money of service charges, dropping from 78% to 76%.

Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, said:

"We are working hard to improve our housing service.

"While the overall satisfaction in the service is good, we know that we can do better. The survey results show what areas we need to improve upon.

"I would like to thank our tenants for getting involved in this survey. It is only by listening to their views and working together that we can improve our services."
