The project, which approved at a recent Town Council Services Committee meeting plans to celebrate the coronation by incorporating a legacy project to lay hardstanding under the canopy and extend the concrete pad to the side and inlaid with two plaques, which incorporate the C III R insignia. The plaques will be both English and Welsh.

During the meeting, the committee accepted a quote for £6,458 for the work to commence.
However, some frustration has been expressed online by local residents. A social media post by local resident, Paul Williams, has attracted comments from other local residents expressing their frustration, with commenters having preferred if they had planted a few trees, which would have been far more beneficial for the environment.
The decision to rip up the ground under the canopy has divided opinion among local residents, with some questioning the necessity of the work and whether it is the best use of public funds.
The canopy, which was installed to the sum of £20,000, utilised Covid-19 grant money and features a purple roof to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
