The A483 at Upper Dolfor Road on the outskirts of Newtown experienced a sudden closure yesterday evening, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area.

The closure took place around 5 pm, leading to a buildup of heavy traffic in Newtown as motorists were diverted into the town while a section of the bypass between the Kerry and Dolfor roundabouts was sealed off by police officers.

    Dyfed Powys Police swiftly responded to the situation, closing the stretch of the A483 amid concerns for the safety and welfare of an individual. The closure was a precautionary measure to address the potential risks involved.

    In an official statement, Dyfed Powys Police clarified the reason behind the closure, stating:

    "The road was closed following concern raised for the safety and welfare of an individual. The individual is now safe."

    Due to the efforts of officers, the road reopened at approximately 6:10 pm, just over an hour after the initial closure.
