Major town centre route to close for safety repairs

The main route into the town centre will be closed on Monday 19th August 2024 between 7:30am and 2pm due to safety repairs.

The main route into the town centre will be closed on Monday 19th August 2024 between 7:30am and 2pm due to safety repairs.

The iconic Newtown Long Bridge will be closed for safety bollard repairs on Monday 19th August 2024. The closure is set to start at 7:30am and end at 2pm.

The work is being carried out by Powys County Council.

It is understood that the safety bollards are being repaired due to a road traffic collison which has damaged them.

The official diversion route will be via New Road and down Back Lane into Broad Street.
