During her time on the council, she has been the lead councillor for various projects including road crossing improvements and exploring the provision of a playpark in the Llanllwchaiarn area.

In a statement by the town council, a spokesperson said:

"We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jackie for her commitment and service to the residents of the South Ward and the broader Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn community. We extend our best wishes to her and her family in their future endeavours."

"Further details regarding the election to fill the vacancy in the South Ward will be provided in the coming days."

This news comes after the resignation of Rex Shayler last month and the current vacancy declaration for his position in North Ward, leaving the town council with 14 out of a possible 16 members.
