The motion reads:
NLTC will write to Powys County Council... and request that visibility of the pedestrian crossings be increased by repainting, raising the walkway and improved warning lights. This should not wait until the Senedd may regulate for 20mph zones.
The motion goes on to add:
However, the town council wishes to reiteratethe concerns of both the school and local residents that speeding traffic is a constant issue not only at school pick up and drop off times when the safety concerns are further heightened due to the very young children present. Visible and functioning traffic calming measures are needed as a matter of urgency rather than a retrospective measure after a serious accident or fatality had occurred when it would be too late. The zebra crossing is deemed to be an integral part of the safe route to school as wellas creating a safe route for pedestrians.
