Newtown High School students showcased their football talents at the recent North Powys KS3 Football Tournament held at Latham Park, delivering an outstanding performance that left spectators in awe.

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Year 7 team from Newtown High School emerged victorious in the competition. The team triumphed over Bro Hyddgen, Llanfyllin, Llanidloes, and Caereinion before facing the unbeaten Welshpool in the final match.

    According to a social media post by the school, "Newtown's captain Jack Davies found himself through on goal in the remaining few minutes to calmly finish and claim the title for Newtown."

    The entire squad, led by standout performances from Tom Pengelly-Leach, Tommy Price, and Clayton Arzu, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day, ultimately securing the North Powys Champions title for Year 7.

    Not to be outdone, Newtown High School's Year 8 and Year 9 teams also displayed impressive skills on the field. The Year 8 team, led by Captain James Pengelly-Leach, midfielder Alvaro Juarez-Hernandez, and striker Logan Grant, showcased a commendable performance with consistent unbeaten games.

    Meanwhile, the Year 9 team, despite encountering some challenges, exhibited a commendable effort with notable wins against Bro Hyddgen and Caereinion. Captain Konrad Sznajder, midfielder Jayden Reynolds, and defender Tyler Mitchell stood out as key players in their determined efforts throughout the tournament.
