New rural dwelling application submitted

A new planning application has been submitted to Powys County Council for consideration regarding the erection of a rural enterprise dwelling in Tregynon.

The application, lodged by Mr and Mrs Lewis on 23rd December 2024 would see a new rural enterprise dwelling built at Dolymelinau, Tregynon, Newtown, SY16 3PS

In the planning statement provided by Roger Parry & Partners, it is emphasized that the business, identified as a family-run farm with a long-standing presence in the area, requires an additional dwelling for the continuation and growth of operations.

It says that the new construction is crucial for the farm's sustainability and for ensuring round-the-clock care of livestock.

The proposed dwelling's strategic location north of the farm aims to maintain proximity to the farm buildings while preserving the operational integrity of the existing business and allowing for potential future local needs.

Ensuring the architectural harmony with the rural surroundings is another key consideration, with a focus on a design that reflects the traditional nature of the area.

Although the Tregynon Community Council will review the application at their upcoming meeting, the ultimate decision on the matter rests with Powys County Council, either through their Planning Committee or potentially delegated to officers.
