Among the suggestions are opening the council chamber to visitors for guided tours, planting 50 trees around Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn, hosting a design competition for a special anniversary flag, and donating food items to the local food bank.
Other ideas include placing a commemorative bench in town, hosting an online quiz with a charitable prize, and creating a Knit & Natter post box topper for the occasion.
While these ideas all sound like fantastic ways to celebrate, the report also highlights the need to be mindful of the limited resources available within the council and the paper recommends that councillors prioritise options that have a lower impact on resources.
As the town gears up to mark this special anniversary, residents are encouraged to share their own suggestions for the celebration. What would you like to see Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council do to mark 50 years of service to the community?
