Market Street in Newtown may soon see a burst of color and greenery, thanks to a proposal that has recently landed on the agenda of a town council meeting next week.
The proposal in question focuses on the purchase and installation of two large planters along Market Street, and it comes with the backing of local businesses and residents. These planters have been made available thanks to the efforts of County Councillor Joy Jones, who obtained the necessary permission from Powys County Council.

However, there is one condition for the plan to go ahead: Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council (NLTC) must be willing to take on the responsibility of maintaining these beautiful planters once they are installed.
The county councill will purchase and install the planters if the proposal is approved. Town councillors will discuss the idea at their next Services Commitee meeting on the 13th November 2023.
