The Mayor of Newtown has praised the inaugural Newtown 10k run, which was held last weekend, for raising approximately £7,000 for charities.

The Newtown 10k run, which took place on 21st May 2023, has been declared a resounding triumph, thanks to the outstanding support and commitment of the local community.

With a noteworthy total of 557 participants joining the event, the race attracted widespread interest and praise from all sides. However, what stood out most was the incredible fact that 555 of the runners crossed the finish line, a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the participants.
This successful event also resulted in raising an estimated £7,000 for charitable causes. This achievement underscores the meaningful and positive influence such events can exert on the community.
The integral role played by Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and several local businesses was fundamental to the organization and eventual success of the Newtown 10k. A special note of recognition goes to Control Techniques, Hilltop Honey, SJ Roberts, Lowfield Timber Frames, Makefast, Outdoor Toys, 23 Social, Open Newtown, and WiPAK for their significant contributions to the event.
