The event will be held at Hafan yr Afon, Back Lane, Newtown, SY16 2NH, with the start and finish line just a short walk from several town centre car parks. The race day schedule includes an 8 am arrival in Newtown, an 8:40 am warm-up, and a 9 am race start.
Efforts will be made to minimise disruption for residents on race day, with road closures in effect beginning at 8:15 am. Diversion routes will be available for those travelling into town. Spectators are encouraged to watch the start and finish of the race and support runners along the riverside paths.
The Newtown 10k has a cut-off time of 90 minutes, after which roads will reopen. Slower runners who fall behind this pace may be asked to withdraw from the race for their own safety.
Newtown.wales spoke to race organizer Alan Lewis, who said that he was inspired by successful events in Oswestry, Welshpool, and Lake Vyrnwy to bring a similar experience to Newtown.
The Newtown 10k is an officially measured, Welsh Athletics-licensed course that follows the banks of the River Severn and showcases the beautiful green spaces of the town.
This year's event will feature teams from local charities, as well as large groups from area companies such as Control Techniques, Makefast, and Hilltop Honey. The Newtown 10k promises to be an exciting and inclusive event for the entire community, promoting fitness, fun, and charitable giving.
