Residents woke up this morning to a winter wonderland, but as the day progressed, the local area saw school closures and travel disruption - and more snow is forecast to fall.
Among the schools closed in Newtown today were Brynllywarch Hall School in Kerry, Maesyrhandir C.P. School, Newtown High School, St. Michael's C. in W. School in Kerry, Ysgol Robert Owen, and Ysgol Rhiw Bechan in Tregynon.

The Met Office has indicated that a frosty night is ahead with wintry showers expected on Wednesday.

During the early hours of Wednesday morning, wintry showers are forecast to move into the northern and western regions, leading to icy patches by dawn. Temperatures are expected to drop, with a minimum of -2°C, resulting in widespread frost.

Wednesday is expected to start off cold, crisp, and icy. Wintry showers may linger in some areas but are likely to ease as the day progresses. The east should see prolonged sunny spells, but the overall temperature is forecast to remain low, reaching a maximum of 7°C. A northerly wind may add to the chill factor.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday
The cold weather is set to continue on Thursday and Friday, with a chance of wintry showers in western parts alongside sunny intervals. Saturday, however, is predicted to bring milder temperatures along with wet and windy conditions. Hill snow is a possibility during this period.
