In a hard-fought battle at Latham Park on Saturday, Newtown AFC faced a daunting challenge against The New Saints (TNS) and ultimately suffered a 0-2 loss.

The match showcased a spirited effort from both sides, with Ben Clarke and Joshua Daniels emerging as the heroes for TNS with goals in the 61st and 90+3rd minutes, respectively.

TNS, who currently top the charts in the Cymru Premier League, continued their remarkable run of form. With the latest victory, they have extended their unbeaten streak to an impressive 21 games in all competitions, comprising 18 wins and two draws. The team's eyes are now firmly fixed on securing their 16th championship, a testament to their dominance in Welsh football.

The breakthrough came in the 61st minute when Ben Clarke capitalized on a scoring opportunity, leaving Newtown's defense helpless. Despite their best efforts, the home team couldn't stop TNS from doubling their lead in the dying moments of the match when Joshua Daniels slotted in a goal during injury time.

Yellow cards were a common sight throughout the match, with Louis Robles, George Hughes, Dominic Smith, Robert Evans, and Shane Sutton of Newtown finding themselves in the referee's notebook.

Historically, TNS has had the upper hand in their encounters with Newtown, and this game was no different. TNS has now won their last five matches against Newtown, amassing an impressive 19 goals in the process. Meanwhile, Newtown has struggled to make an impact when playing at home, having scored only one goal in their last seven encounters against The New Saints.

Newtown is currently 4th in the league table with 23 pts.
