This weekend's parkruns saw an impressive turnout of 218 participants, all eager to walk, jog, or run the scenic 5k or 2k course.
In this week's Saturday parkrun, Finlay Cullen, a member of Maldwyn Harriers, finished in an outstanding 16:22, setting a new personal best. Hot on his heels was David Bannister from Ledbury & District Harriers, completing his 300th parkrun in 18:15 as a first-time participant in Newtown. George Hugman, a young talent in the JM11-14 category, also achieved a new personal best with a time of 18:47.

Carl Evans and Kyle Evison, both seasoned participants, finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Gwern Ap Rhobat closely followed, all achieving commendable times under 20 minutes. Andy Morgan-Lee, another first-timer, marked his 186th parkrun with a notable 19:33.
David Darrock, Garry Jones, and Steve James, all members of various parkrun clubs, showcased consistent performance with times of 19:43, 20:00, and 20:00 respectively. Richard L. Jones, a member of Shrewsbury AC, also celebrated a personal best with his 20:25 finish.
Among the first-time runners, Tommy Jones and Liam Gittins made remarkable debuts, finishing with times of 20:50 and 20:57, respectively.
Other significant performances included Andy Breeze (20:25), Hannah Thomas (20:41), and Ben Davies Jerman (20:47), all setting new personal bests. Richard Mason and Lucy Goode, both consistent runners, also made impressive finishes within the top 20.
Sunday's Hafan yr Afon junior parkrun, in the wet weather, showcased young talents, with Charlie G leading the juniors with a new personal best of 08:31. Emily B made a strong first appearance, finishing in 08:40, while Thomas M secured third place with a notable performance.
Other juniors achieving personal bests included Amy B (08:54), Rhydian F (09:12), and Harvey E (09:15).

Newtown parkrun happens every Saturday morning at 9am and is a 5k community event which allows participants to walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. The Hafan yr Afon junior parkrun happens every Sunday morning at 9am and is a 2k event.
