Newtown parkrun marked its 7th anniversary with a memorable celebration last weekend.
Since its inception on October 7, 2017, the parkrun has become a staple in the Newtown community, attracting a total of 5,523 participants who have collectively completed 35,146 parkruns, covering an impressive distance of 175,730km - roughly around 4,164 marathons!

Over the 7 year period, 367 individuals who volunteered a remarkable 5,250 times over the years - without who, the parkrun wouldn't be able to operate each week.
The 7th anniversary parkrun witnessed outstanding performances from several participants, with personal bests achieved by Tom Burlinson, Miranda Vercoe, Danny Lloyd, George Morris, Heledd Rowlands, and others.
Notable milestones were also celebrated, including Paul Armes, Becky Morgan, and Sarah Powell completing their 25th parkruns, Suzanne Horobin reaching 100 parkruns, and Michael Murray hitting an impressive 150 parkruns.
Among the top finishers of the day were Ollie Jones, who crossed the line first with a time of 18:51 in the M20-24 category, and Miranda Vercoe finishing strong with 21:11 in the W30-34 category.
Adding to the jubilant atmosphere, some regular participants embraced the festive spirit by donning creative and colorful fancy dress outfits, enhancing mood of the anniversary event.
