This year's LGBT+ History Month theme, 'Medicine - #UnderThe Scope,' casts a spotlight on the extraordinary contributions of LGBT+ individuals to the fields of Medicine and Healthcare. It highlights their historical significance and the lasting impact they have had on society.

In a statement, a spokesperson said:

"Honouring this theme, the Council extends its recognition of the commendable work of LGBT+ staff across the NHS and other healthcare settings. Their dedication along with others, particularly in navigating the challenges posed by the pandemic, deserves our applause."

"It also recognises the existing disparities and commitment to raising awareness about ongoing health inequalities."

"Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is not only committed to celebrating diversity but also to fostering an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and empowered to participate in public life. We believe that diverse perspectives enrich our town, and we actively encourage residents of all backgrounds to engage in public life. Everyone’s involvement is integral to shaping a community that embraces the richness of our collective experiences."
