Newtown is gearing up for an exciting day as the Newtown 10k, organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, is all set to take place on Sunday 26th May, with a 9am start time.
This annual event is expected to bring together approximately 700 participants, ranging from first-time runners to competitive athletes, all running for various reasons from charity to personal health goals.
Newtown 10k 2024
This event starts at 26/05/2024 09:00am and is being held at Back Lane Car Park. Tickets from £22. Click here for more information.
The race will kick off from Hafan yr Afon on Back Lane, with the start and finish line conveniently located just a short walk away from several town centre car parks.
To accommodate the event, road closures will be in place starting at 8:15 am, with diversion routes available for those traveling into town. Residents are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any disruptions.
Spectators are invited to come out and support the runners as they make their way along the riverside paths during the race.
The Newtown 10k route, officially measured and Welsh Athletics-licensed, offers participants and onlookers a chance to experience the beauty of Newtown's green spaces as it follows the scenic banks of the River Severn. Alongside the exhilarating atmosphere of the race, the event will also support charity partners including Hope House and Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Schedules for the day include an 8 am arrival in Newtown, a 8:40 am warm-up session, and the official race start at 9 am.
Road closures will affect various areas including Back Lane/Long Bridge Street, Canal Road, and Llanllwchaiarn Church to Waterworks Lane at specified times, so residents are advised to plan ahead for any necessary travel during those times.
Adrenaline Sporting Events has also received £2,000 from Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council towards the event, as part of it's Tourism Events Grant scheme.
