The applications also include schemes to address the three priority themes for this round of the grants scheme.
The grant, funded and administered by Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is designed to provide long-term benefits to the community, increase skill and creativity, extend access and participation, and generally improve the quality of life of people in the area.
Among them is:
- Treowen Hall - £1000 to promote and educate litter awareness around the community hall using signage.
- Bike to the Future - £700 to service 20 bikes and equip people with basic bike skills.
- Dial A Ride - £1000 to expand community transport provision by insuring the new e-minibus.
- Newtown Community Cafe - £1000 to support general costs for rent, equipment and food for the weekly Community Cafe.
- Newtown Rainbows - £1000 for new outdoor play equipment including floor cushions, skipping ropes and more.
- Heritage Hub 4 Mid Wales - £1000 to collaborate with education partners and local schools in Newtown and New Harmony, Indiana, USA.
- Mens Shed - £998 for IT equipment for admin, workshops, events, training and promotion. Training courses for volunteers.
- Cultivate - £985.20 for six 'Mental Lentils' events bringing together people for a vibrant curry night focussing on sustainability and UK-grown produce.
An application was also received from Havenmore Hedgehog Rescue, but this was rejected as it did not meet the criteria of benefiting human residents.
It is likely that Town Councillors will approve the applications.
