Authorities have provided an update on the stabbing incident that occurred in Newtown on Friday night.

According to Dyfed Powys Police, a 16-year-old male has been charged with multiple offenses including wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article in a public place, and actual bodily harm.

    The suspect has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Welshpool Magistrates Court today.

    Emergency services swiftly responded to reports of an incident near The Cross in Newtown's town center around 8:25 p.m. on Friday, the 7th of March, 2025.

    Following the incident, a police cordon was established between High Street and Shortbridge Street. Throughout Saturday, officers were stationed at Parkers Lane and Shortbridge Street.

    Authorities have confirmed that the victim, who was transported to the hospital, is currently in stable condition, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
