Town Councillors are set to give out thousands to local events via tourism grants.

Councillors on the Economy & Environment Committee of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council will meet next week (Monday 5th) to decide to give out around £9,000 in tourism grants, designed to help local events promote and run their offerings.

The grants are designed to support events which will see at least 3,850 attendees throughout the year. The local events are:

  • Rotary Club Newtown - Newtown Firework Display - £2000 grant for advertising, fireworks etc.
  • Newtown Carnival Trust - Newtown Carnival - £2000 grant for advertising, event insurance, marquees and more.
  • Newtown Silver Band - Newtown Open Air & March Contest - £2000 grant for prize money, publicity, marquee hire and more.
  • Newtown Outdoor Festival - Newtown Outdoor Festival - £1000 grant for event insurance, admin etc.
  • Adrenaline Sporting Events - Newtown 10k - £2000 grant for road closure.

It is likely that town councillors will support the requests.
