Newtown residents and visitors alike were treated to another event this morning as around 615 participants took part in the second annual Newtown 10k run.

Newtown residents and visitors alike were treated to another event this morning as around 615 participants took part in the second annual Newtown 10k run.
Organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, the race showcased the town's vibrant sporting community and brought together runners of all levels to tackle a picturesque route along the banks of the River Severn.

The event, which kicked off from Hafan yr Afon, not only provided runners with a scenic backdrop to push themselves to achieve personal bests but also served a greater purpose by supporting charity partners including Hope House and Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Visitors looked on as the first runners crossed the finish line, with Connor Rogers claiming the top spot with an impressive time of 32 minutes and 29 seconds. Eric Apperley followed close behind, securing the second position with a time of 32 minutes and 38 seconds.
Hannah Thomas from Newtown clinched the top female spot with a time of 40 minutes and 12 seconds.

Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council contributed £2,000 to the event through its Tourism Events Grant scheme. This funding helped provide essential logistics for the event, including free parking at the Back Lane car park.
