Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn’s Mayor Cllr Pete Lewington, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community as he steps into his new role.

In a statement reflecting on his early experiences as Mayor and the promise of the year ahead, Cllr Lewington shared his admiration for the town’s spirit and his aspirations for a united, vibrant future.

“I am extremely honoured to be the new Mayor,” he began, offering thanks to his predecessor for years of dedicated service.

“I will undertake the role with pride and enthusiasm and to the very best of my abilities.”

Cllr Lewington also extended his appreciation to the town’s Councillors and staff, highlighting their hard work and commitment.

Cllr Lewington emphasized the importance of community collaboration and compassion. “There is no limit to what we can achieve when we all work together,” he said, recounting his recent experiences at local events, such as Remembrance Day and the Kicking Off Christmas celebration.

He commended the town for its community spirit and expressed eagerness to build on this foundation in the years ahead.

As the festive season approaches, the Mayor encouraged residents to embrace the holiday spirit by showing kindness and considering the needs of the vulnerable.

“I would like to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and send you my sincere best wishes for 2025. It is an honour to serve you, and I look forward to working with you to unleash our town’s full potential.”
