The Newtown Network – a informal association of community support groups has launched its latest collective work – a free bi-lingual information booklet on where those in hardship can find help and support.

The booklet was first distributed at the recent Kindness Festival in the Town Park and is available directly from the members of the Newtown Network: Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, Salvation Army, Ponthafren Association, PAVO, Pobl, Citizens Advice Powys, Cultivate, All Saints Church, Powys Together Powys County Council.

It lists sources of support for benefits and money, employment, social services, carers, families, food and meals, emotional health and well-being, spiritual support, and housing support.

Electronic copies are available here:

The Network is extremely grateful to the financial sponsors of the booklet – Hilltop Honey, Rees Astley Financial Advisors, Ponthafren Association, and Powys Together Powys County Council.

Town Clerk, Ed Humphreys said:

“The Newtown Network illustrates the town council in its enabling role and how it works with others, which are aspects of town council’s work in developing community resilience which are sometimes overlooked.  The Network came together during Covid, is growing in membership, and continues to co-ordinate weekly around hardship support in various forms.”
