Superintendent Chris Neve announced the declaration earlier today, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to manage the challenges posed by the storm.

“I have this morning declared a major incident...which means that together with our partners, we can call on the resources we need to respond to the challenges brought by Storm Darragh," Superintendent Neve stated. "The safety of the public remains our top priority, and I am urging everyone to take the warnings that have been issued seriously."

Despite the lapse of the red weather warning, Dyfed-Powys Police continues to receive a high volume of calls related to road obstructions, including fallen trees, and hazardous driving conditions.

The police have provided critical guidance for those who must travel today:
- Plan extra time for your journey.
- Increase distances between vehicles.
- Slow down to account for adverse conditions.

Residents experiencing health concerns can consult the NHS 111 Wales symptom checker or call 111 for urgent but non-emergency medical advice. In life-threatening situations, dial 999 immediately.

Superintendent Neve expressed gratitude to the community for their ongoing support, reiterating the importance of heeding official advice to remain safe. "We have robust plans in place to respond to Storm Darragh... and we continue to work extremely closely with partner agencies," he assured.

As emergency teams work tirelessly to restore normality, the public is urged to remain vigilant and patient during this challenging time.
