Town Councillors will next week discuss awarding nearly £5,000 to local groups as part of it's community fund scheme.

The Resources Committee of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council will decide the October round of community grants at a meeting on the 16th October 2023. The applications for community grants were completed by local groups, all seeking their slice of the pot.

The grant, funded and administered by Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is designed to provide long-term benefits to the community, increase skill and creativity, extend access and participation, and generally improve the quality of life of people in the area.

Among them is:

• Cultivate who have requested £1,000 to lead four workshops around windowsill growing, targeting members of community that have no growing space and limited resources.
• Penygloddfa C.P. School who have requested £1,000 for sensory items for ALN pupils to aid with health and wellbeing.
• Knit and Knatter Newtown who have requested £1,000 for a pop-up waterproof gazebo to use when having charity stalls at outside events.

It is likely that Town Councillors will approve the applications.
